John Boyega Stars In the New Trailer for 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'

The actor reprises his role as Finn for the final installment of the Skywalker trilogy.

This past weekend, Disney released the trailer for the latest film in the Star Wars franchise, The Rise of Skywalker at The D23 Expo.

John Boyega has reprised his role as Finn for the film, and has previously hinted that this may be his final appearance in the franchise, telling MTV News that he "honestly thinks" he won't be playing the role again during an interview in April.

Here's the film's official description:

The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more as Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron's journey continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle commences.

The Rise of Skywalker is the ninth series in the saga, and the last film in the most recent trilogy, as Screen Rantnotes.

While the new trailer shows plenty of throwback footage, it also includes never before seen shots of characters like Finn, Poe, Chewbacca and C-3PO and Reywho looks like she's taken a dark turn in the upcoming film.

Director J.J. Abrams has returned to direct the film. The film also stars Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, Naomi Ackie, Mark Hamill, Oscar Issac and more.
