About a decade ago, Kizz Daniel made a splashy breakthrough with his debut single, “Woju.” In the time since, he’s strengthened his case as one of the foremost hitmakers in Afrobeats.

Today, the Nigerian singer has surprised-released a new EP, TZA, short for “Thankz Alot.” The new drop is a celebration of the years Vado, as he’s fondly referred to by fans, has spent at the summit of Nigerian pop and African music in general. Also, it’s an appreciative gesture towards listeners who’ve helped him grow into a powerhouse superstar, as he begins a festivities to mark the past ten years.

The new EP contains recent singles “Twe Twe” and “Too Busy to be Bae,” both ultra-popular hits that have been inescapable since the Detty December period. The former, particularly, merges inventiveness with typical Kizz Daniel functionality, pairing folk drums from Nigeria’s north central with the singer’s knack for breezy melodies. A Davido-assisted remix followed soon, too.

The two newer songs on TZA, “Sooner” and “Showa,” are equally catchy showcases of Vado’s seemingly effortless ability to spin hits. It wouldn’t be out of place for either or both singles to go on to become huge hits, especially as Kizz Daniel gears up for an arena concert in London on May 6, as well as tour stops across Europe over the summer.
