Ghanaian-born athlete Maame Biney just made the world pay attention to not only the winter sport of speedskating—but to her domination of it.

The 17-year-old became the first black woman to qualify for a U.S. Olympic speedskating team with a pair of victories in the 500 meter race, ESPN reports.

"When I realized that I made the Olympic team, I started cheering like crazy, and then I made my epic fall," she says catching up with ESPN.

Biney's accomplishment is a great addition to black, African women leading the way in representing their communities in winter sports.

The reactions on Twitter show that the world is ready to watch, especially since someone who looks like them will be dominating the Olympics.

Biney joins Shani Davis as the second black speedskater to join a U.S. Olympic team.
