Prêt-À-Poundo: Duro Olowu x J.C. Penney [African Fashion at NYFW]

African fashion designer Duru Olowu and J.C Penney showcased during New York fashion Week February 2013.

Internationally acclaimed designer Duro Olowu captures the hip, progressive African essence to create his unique garments. The Nigerian-born, London-based Olowu is part of an inspired, innovative and tasteful band of fashion designers whose greatest gift is to enhance women's natural beauty through vibrant and colorful creations. During New York Fashion Week, Olowu had a preview party showcasing a limited-edition collection for Spring 2013 in collaboration with J.C. Penney, the famed American retailer.

The Duro Olowu party was held at the Stone Rose Lounge in the Time Warner building in Manhattan. Some celebrities such as chef Marcus Samuelsson, international supermodel Bethann Hardison, and model Miss J. were spotted amongst the throng of people. A first seasonal designer for J.C. Penney, Olowu stated, "This collection is for anyone from 18 to 80... Everything has a flattering element, whether you mix prints or pull out one piece and keep it simple." On top of all this, Olowu is one of the darlings of the First Lady Michelle Obama. She's been spotted many times wearing Olowu's creations with beauty and grace. And here's the good news — the price range is really affordable, the collection including purses, shoes, household good, luggage, dresses, skirts from 10$ to 100$.
