Yesterday, South African actor Kenneth Nkosi, who has starred in films such as Five Fingers for Marseilles and the Oscar-winning Tsotsi,handed himself in at the Central Johannesburg Police Station following his alleged assault of his girlfriend. He is expected to appear in the Magistrate's Court after a charge of common assault under domestic violence was laid against him, according to News24.

Following the alleged assault, a friend of the victim took to Twitter to share her anger about what happened at a popular hangout spot in Johannesburg last week Friday.

She spoke about how her friend had refused to pay any attention to Nkosi who then became belligerent and allegedly began assaulting the young woman, even going as far as following her into the ladies' room where he allegedly continued being violent towards her.

Speaking about the details of what transpired between Nkosi and his girlfriend to DRUM magazine, Captain Xoli Mbele said:

"The complainant was at the BlackAnt lounge with her boyfriend when three ladies came to attack her. Her boyfriend then pushed her, causing her to sustain injuries on her hands. He further pulled her by her hair before beating her up."

More individuals subsequently came forward on Twitter and shared their own harrowing experiences with the actor. The plight of women in South Africa seems as if it will continue to worsen. Rates of domestic violence and femicide remain disgustingly high as South African men continue to violate women with impunity.

Similarly, and perhaps more well-known, is the alleged assault of gqom artist, Babes Wodumo, by her boyfriend and fellow musician, Mampintsha. The case has been riddled with controversy, plot twists as well as Babes herself failing to appear in court.
