Ethiopian-born Finnish songstress Mirel Wagner has consistently wowed us with her lo-fi folk stylings since we first came across her music a couple of years ago. Wagner's no frills approach to songwriting is endowed with "a simplicity that creates a huge emotional response" which gives her macabre ballads the power to take on lives of their own deep within the bleakest regions of our psyche. Following in the somber vein of her videos for "No Death," "To The Bone" and "Oak Tree," Wagner's minimalist aesthetic is once again on display in the equally haunting video for her latest single "The Dirt." In the shadowy clip which picks up where the singer-songwriter's last video left off, she's joined once more by a diminutive doppelgänger to revisit the morbid mother-daughter dynamic established in "Oak Tree." Clad in all black, the two ghostly figures cling to each other in a decrepit building teetering on the edge of collapse as Wagner weaves a chilling tale of death's inevitable arrival.
