Caster Semenya is Taking up Professional Soccer

The two-time Olympic gold medalist has joined the Gauteng-based JVW Football Club.

South African athlete and two-time 800m Olympic gold medalist, Caster Semenya, is beginning a new chapter in her life. After her woes with the IAAF and both the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) and Swiss Federal Court having ultimately ruled that she cannot compete in the 800m without using testosterone-regulating medication, it seems Semenya is setting out on a new course altogether. The South African reports that Semenya has joined the Gauteng-based JVW Football Club. The club is owned by Janine van Wyk, the captain of South Africa's national women's soccer team, Banyana Banyana.

Caster Semenya isn't new to her gender being questioned and used against her. The athlete recently shared that even as youngster she had to sometimes prove she was a woman as her teammates struggled to compete against her. "They started questioning, are you really a girl? One day, I walked naked into the change room [to prove to them]," Semenya was quoted as saying by The Sowetan.

Caster Semenya Will No Longer Compete at the World Championships

The Swiss Federal Supreme Court has reversed the earlier judgment that temporarily suspended the IAAF's testosterone regulations.

It seems that two-time Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya's fight has no near end in sight. After she successfully appealed the IAAF's testosterone regulations and had them temporarily suspended by the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, the same court has now overturned its previous decision, according to EWN. Semenya, who has refused to take testosterone-lowering medications, will no longer compete at the Athletics World Championships taking place in Doha this coming September.

Caster Semenya Has Been Denied Entry into the 800m Race in Morocco

This is in spite of the Swiss Federal Tribunal's rejection of the IAAF's urgent application to have the testosterone regulations imposed on the athlete reinstated.

There seems to be no end in sight to the constant frustration and humiliation that Caster Semenya has had to endure. After the Swiss Federal Tribunal (SFT) ruled in her favor and suspended the IAAF's decision to force the athlete to take testosterone-lowering drugs in order for her to compete in addition to rejecting the sporting body's urgent application to have the regulations reinstated, Semenya is still not allowed to compete in the upcoming Diamond League meeting in Rabat, Morocco.
