We’ve been following Jefferson Osei’s genre-melding electronic productions as Papa Ghana since his debut track “I Am An African.” From that first single, the Dutch-Ghanaian artist & fashion designer has patiently shaped his sound—a dance-influenced mash that takes cues from afrobeat, coupé-décalé, kuduro, grime, dubstep, and hip-hop—through gritty singles like “DVMSKO” and collaborations with the likes of Full Crate.

For his debut EP, Mandingo, Papa Ghana presents 11 tracks in a style he describes as “Diaspora Beat.” The EP features contributions from Afrikan Boy on the previously featured “Ghana vs Nigeria,” production work from Petite Noir, Riky Rick & BLKKOUT and is introduced by a track that samples Nelson Mandela.
