Yvonne Orji Has Landed a Major Book Deal

The 'Insecure' breakout star will write the faith-based book "Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams (and 20 Lessons I Learned Along the Way)."

Yvonne Orji will soon be able to add "author" to her already impressive resume, as the actress and comedian has inked a book deal with Flatiron Books.

Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams (and 20 Lessons I Learned Along the Way), will be a faith-based self-help book, in which Orji will interpret various stories from the Bible and make them applicable to present-day.

Orji took to social media yesterday to share the exciting news, writing "Sometimes life plays tricks on you. And sometimes the master trickster is Jesus. That's the story I want to tell and I'm soooo excited to join the Flatiron family to bring 'Bamboozled by Jesus to life'."

Here's a summary of the book via The Hollywood Reporter:

Bamboozled by Jesus is described as a frank and fresh advice book, filled with one woman's authentic journey to understand her life and the nuggets of wisdom she's uncovered along the way. Orji covers 20 life lessons gleaned from her own experience, her family and the Bible — from how to save for a rainy day to building the ark before the flood, from thinking outside the box to realizing you're not special (while instead making yourself available).

Orji, who has been outspoken about her faith, launched the Jesus & Jollof podcast along with fellow Nigerian writer and social critic Luvvie Ajayi back in July. She also made her big screen debut in Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish's Night School. In February it was announced that she'd star in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Spontaneous.

There's no release date for Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams (and 20 Lessons I Learned Along the Way), but we'll be sure to keep you updated as details arise.
