'Africa39' Short Story Anthology Book Launch In NYC
The NYC book launch for short story anthology 'Africa39: New Writing from Africa South of the Sahara' is March 3rd at Columbia University.
<p>Next Tuesday, March 3rd, the Wales-based <a href="https://www.hayfestival.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Hay Festival</strong></a> and African literature website <strong><a href="http://www.afridiaspora.com/" target="_blank">Afridiaspora</a></strong> are presenting the New York City book launch of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Africa39-Writing-Africa-south-Sahara/dp/1620407795" target="_blank"><em>Africa39: New Writing from Africa South of the Sahara</em></a>, an anthology of short stories by 39 writers under the age of 40 from sub-Saharan Africa and the Diaspora. The collection comprises work by such authors as <a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/tag/chimamanda-ngozi-adichie/" target="_blank"><strong>Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie</strong></a>, <strong>Dinaw Mengestu</strong>, and <strong>Taiye Selasie</strong>, and features a preface by Nobel Prize-winning playwright/poet <a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/tag/Wole-Soyinka/" target="_blank"><strong>Wole Soyinka</strong></a>. The book launch will be moderated by Afridiaspora.com founder and managing editor <strong>Nana-Ama Kyerematen</strong>, and will feature a reading/discussion by the anthology's editor <strong>Ellah Wakatama Allfrey</strong> and two writers featured in the collection, <a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/news/summer-reading-2012/" target="_blank"><strong>Nana Ekua Brew Hammond</strong></a> and Caine Prize winner <a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/news/okwiri-oduor-caine-prize-african-writing-2014-winner/" target="_blank"><strong>Tope Folarin</strong></a>.
