SA singer Busiswa and Kindness bring out the kwaito shuffle in Robyn and Royksopp's "Monument."
<p>UK pop songwriter Adam Bainbridge, aka <strong><a href="http://kindness.es/" target="_blank">Kindness</a>,</strong> is preparing the release of his sophomore album <em>Otherness</em> which will feature appearances from <a href="http://www.okayplayer.com/tag/robyn" target="_blank"><strong>Robyn</strong></a>, Dev Hynes (<strong><a href="http://www.okayplayer.com/tag/blood-orange" target="_blank">Blood Orange</a></strong>), <a href="http://www.okayplayer.com/news/kindness-kelela-ade-world-restart-mp3.html" target="_blank"><strong>Kelela</strong></a> and Ghana's <a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/okayafrica-artists/m-anifest/" target="_blank"><strong>M.anifest</strong></a>. In the run-up to the LP, Kindness has been keeping busy <a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/video/william-onyeabor-fantastic-man-central-park-roller-dance-video/" target="_blank">directing videos</a> for <a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/photos/atomic-bomb-the-music-of-william-onyeabor-photos/#slide1" target="_blank"><strong>William Onyeabor</strong></a>, <a href="http://www.okayplayer.com/news/blood-orange-uncle-ace-kindness-remix-mp3.html" target="_blank">remixing</a> Blood Orange and, now, tackling Robyn & <strong>Röyksopp</strong>'s<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c-RbGZBnBI" target="_blank"> recent collaboration</a> "Monument." His stripped-down "A Monument For Everything" rework features South African "<span style="color: #4e5665;">new-age performance poet and singer" <strong><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/MyNameIs-Busiswa/398015543574806" target="_blank">Busiswa</a></strong>.<strong> </strong>Bainbridge <a href="http://www.thefader.com/2014/08/15/kindness-robyn-royksopp-busiswa-a-momunent-to-everything/" target="_blank">tells The Fader</a> "When Robyn and I spoke about reworking the song, it was already so right, so hauntingly gossamer, that it seemed it could only be remixed by taking away—stripping things back to the core of its groove. I’m very happy to have Busiswa on this (even slightly slower) version of “Monument,” making a deeper connection with the Kwaito shuffle I thought was lurking somewhere in the heart of the track. Takk & tack to Röyksopp and Robyn.” Stream the remix and check out Busiswa's video for "Ngoku" with <strong>Oskido</strong> & <strong>Uhuru</strong> below.</span></p><p><div class="preroll-video"></div><ora-player></ora-player></p><p><iframe frameborder="no" height="450" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/162819271&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true" width="100%"></iframe></p><p><span style="display:block;position:relative;padding-top:56.25%;" class="rm-shortcode" data-rm-shortcode-id="f7dfe62f079f1f937c4352c0a4c1cf60"><iframe type="lazy-iframe" data-runner-src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0bMKd-19eB4?rel=0" width="100%" height="auto" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;"></iframe></span></p>
