RBMA Bass Camp Joburg: 6 New Tracks From Okmalumkoolkat, Fever Trails, Moonchild, Card On Spokes & More
Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) Bass Camp Johannesburg drops six new tracks from Okmalumkoolkat, Fever Trails, Card On Spokes and more.
<p>Back in October/November, 30 rising names in South Africa's electronic music landscape were selected to attend the 2013 edition of <strong><a href="http://www.redbullstudios.com/capetown/articles/the-sound-of-bass-camp-joburg-2013" target="_blank">Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp Johannesburg</a></strong> at the Alexander Threatre in Braamfontein. In between attending workshops led by the likes of <strong>Francois K</strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/2014/04/01/hugh-masekela-wynton-marsalis-mandela-lincoln-center/" target="_blank">Hugh Masekela</a></strong>, <strong>Vinny Da Vinci</strong>, <strong>Jullian Gomes</strong>, and <strong><a href="http://www.okayafrica.com/2014/04/21/summerstage-okayafrica-black-coffee-dj-spoko/" target="_blank">Black Coffee</a></strong> (an Academy alum himself), participating artists found time to hit the studio together for spontaneous, anything-goes recording sessions. RBMA Bass Camp Joburg recently unveiled six complete tracks born out of those sessions. The result is a 27-minute taste of South Africa's next crop of future-sounding electronic music players. Look out for more tracks to come from the 2013 bass camp.
