Stogie T has finally released his EP The Empire of Sheep. The South African wordsmith has been teasing the project in the last few weeks.

In its right tracks, The Empire of Sheep tells the story of Stogie T's family, from his kids being snobbery and to him not having to worry about lawyer fees as his wife is one on the project's opening song.

Before the project was released, Stogie T shared: "The Empire of Sheep EP is an apogee of countless hours of conversation between Stogie T, his mother, an ex guerrilla fighter with Mkhonto WeSizwe, and many men and women that participated in the armed struggle against the fascist apartheid regime of South Africa."

In the rest of the project's songs, he tells the story of his family being deep-rooted in the struggle against apartheid and what implications it came with. He raps on the song "Love and War": "My poppa die for a freedom in now enjoy, but left some frightening demons we ain't recover from."

He also reflects on the state of South Africa, for instance in the song "Nobodies," in which he paints the picture of what being stuck in a never-ending cycle of poverty is like.

The Empire of Sheep features P-Kuttah, Lucille Slade, Ason, Ayanda Jiya and Brittney Melvin. The project is prequel to a full-length from the rapper, which will be released in 2020.
