Mbosso ft. Reekado Banks 'Shilingi'

Wasafi Records crooner Mbosso hooked up with Nigerian superstar Reekado Banks for "Shillingi", his first international collaboration. Produced by Wasafi's in-house producer Lizer Classic, the romantic bongo track is perfect for wedding receptions and anyone in the mood to celebrate love.

Ethic Entertainment 'Chapa Chapa'

Ethic Entertainment is undoubtedly Kenya's most popular act right now. The fast-rising group is spearheading a new hip hop style called "gengetone" and with their latest single "Chapa Chapa," they are asserting their dominance in the streets as well as on the charts.

Nandy feat. Sauti Sol 'Kiza Kinene'

Tanzania's pop princess Nandy dropped "Kiza Kinene" this month and she features popular Kenyan band, Sauti Sol. The romantic bongo flava track is a perfect blend of their sounds. This collaboration between these East African A-Listers is already a fan favorite.

Nviiri the Storyteller 'Overdose'

Sol Generation signee Nviiri the Storyteller is a talented singer and songwriter who is quickly becoming popular amongst Nairobi's youth. After his hit "Pombe Sigara," he follows up with another single, "Overdose," which sticks to the same theme of excess enjoyment.

Aslay x Alikiba 'Bembea'

Bongo superstars Aslay and Ali Kiba came together for "Bembea," a sultry bongo flava track for all the ladies out there.

Fik Fameica 'Wansakata' feat. Joeboy

Uganda's top rapper Fik Fameica teamed up with Nigerian singer and "Baby" hitmaker, Joeboy, for "Wansakata," a dance-ready bop that's quite easy on the ears.

Kenyan Students Launch #CampusMeToo Movement on University of Nairobi Campus

The movement aims to tackle sexual harassment on university campuses in Kenya.

Kenyan students at the University of Nairobi have recently launched the #CampusMeToo movement which aims to tackle the sexual harassment of students on Kenyan university campuses. The movement comes after ActionAid and UN Women teamed up and conducted a survey which reportedly found that 1 in 2 female students and 1 in 4 male students have been sexually harassed to some degree at the hands of staff at Kenyan universities. The student-led Kenyan extension of the now global #MeToo movement also comes after South Africa's #AmINext movement which protested increasing rates of gender-based violence and femicide while the BBC Africa's recent documentary Sex For Grades was an explosive exposé on sexual harassment going happening in West African universities.

Tanzanian Comedian Idris Sultan Apologizes to President Magufuli

The comedian says his now viral face-swap photo of the president was not ill-intended.

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind for Tanzanian comedian Idris Sultan. Late last month, he was arrested after he posted a photo on social media where he had face swapped an image of President John Pombe Magufuli on his 60th birthday with a caption that read "We swapped roles for a day so that he could enjoy his birthday in peace". Sultan was held by the police under the Cybercrimes Act which makes it illegal for any individual to impersonate another digitally. Yesterday, the comedian apologized to the president, according to The Citizen Tanzania.

Here is the full list of winners for the 2018 SAHHAs.

The 8th annual South African Hip-Hop Awards took place last night at the Lyric Theatre, Joburg.

Some notable wins include YoungstaCPT's 3T winning Album of the Year, Ginger Trill for Lyricist of the Year, Flame taking Best Freshman and Best Male, Nadia Nakai winning Best Female, Makwa winning Best Producer and Falko One receiving the honorary award.

Prominent Somali Activist Almaas Elman Shot and Killed In Mogadishu

The organizer and sister of Nobel Peace Prize-nominated activist Ilwad Elman, was shot dead while riding in a car on Wednesday.

Almaas Elman, a prominent Somali rights activist and organizer was killed today in Mogadishu. She died after being hit by a bullet while riding inside of a car in the Halane compound, reports the Somali news site Hiiraan.

Though details surrounding her death remain uncertain, according to security on the ground Elman "was riding in a car along a road inside the airport," Mohamed Omar, a Somali security official told News 24. "A stray bullet hit her, and she died within a few minutes." The complex is also the headquarters of African Union soldiers.

She was believed to been heading to the airport after attending a meeting at the Elman Peace Centre, which was founded by her father, the respected Somali activist Elman Ali Ahmed, who was assasinated in Mogadishu in 1996.
