OkayAfrica and Elsewhere present a World Cup opening game watch party.

If you’re in the New York City area on June 11, OkayAfrica will be hosting a World Cup watch party for the tournament’s opening game between Mexico and South Africa at one of Brooklyn’s favorite venues, Elsewhere, presented by Red Bull.

Come watch the game on the big screen at Elsewhere’s Chat Room where we’ll have a packed crowd watching every move from Bafana Bafana and the Mexican national team.

Interestingly enough, this match is a repeat of the opening game in the 2010 South African World Cup, in which South Africa scored the first goal of that tournament. Could history be repeated this year?

No matter who wins, we’re partying afterwards, so stick around for sounds from DJ Tab IILL, who will be playing all of the amapiano, kwaito, and Afro-house sounds to get us in the mood for the month’s long tournament.

RSVP HERE for free entry — make sure to grab your spot, the RSVPs are filling up fast!
