JimmyWiz shares visuals for 'A Woman Scorned.'

On "A Woman Scorned," JimmyWiz tells the story of gender-based violence he grew up witnessing. It's not just his story, but the story of South Africa, the continent and the world at large.

The rapper from the East Rand recalls his uncle abusing his aunt, rapping on the second verse:

"I seen my uncle beat his wife, and shit weighed heavy on my chest/ Man to man, that shit is foul and got me losin' all respect/ What type of shit is that, got me losing my composure?/ Man, I'm stronger than this nigga, but he's clutching on his holster/ I told him, 'uncle chill/ Now put that gun away before someone gets killed'/ Relationships are only for the ones that build/ I'm only glad poppa never laid his hands on mom/ And this a story for my brothers tryna raise their arms"

The song was written two years ago at the height of Karabo Mokoena's tragic death at the hands of her boyfriend. The story triggered the memory which the emcee shares on "A Woman Scorned," a piercing narrative that lives over a breezy instrumental straight from the golden era.

"This song is dedicated to all the women that have fallen victim to gender-based violence," says the emcee. "We need to do better as men in protecting and supporting our women."

"A Woman Scorned" is a song from Jimmy Wiz's recently-released debut album Accordin' to Jim. The project tells the life story of the talented rapper.
