Moonchild Sanelly to appear on upcoming Gorillaz album 'Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez'.

South African artist Moonchild Sanelly will appear on Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez, the upcoming album by Gorillaz.

The tracklist, which the popular cartoon band shared Wednesday night, includes the versatile and charismatic South African artist on a song titled "With Love to an Ex". Moonchild Sanelly is in the great company of Kano, Earthgang, ScHoolboy Q, Goldlink, Robert Smith and several others.

Moonchild Sanelly made an appearance during Gorillaz's set at Roskilde Festival in 2018 to perform the song "Out of Body" from the band's 2017 album Humanz.

Moonchild Sanelly has been international for years. The artist found success abroad before gaining popularity in South Africa circa 2017 when she appeared on hits such as "iWalk Yephara" by DJ Maphorisa.

In 2020 alone, Moonchild has appeared on Beyoncé's Black is King and Ghetts' Mozambique alongside Jaykae. Last year, she appeared on Beyonce's The Lion King: The Gift, a soundtrack to The Lion King movie.

Song Machine started in January as a series of songs by the Gorillaz. Each song released was branded as an episode and featured an interview with the featured artist.

"Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do," said Gorillaz drummer Russel in a statement in January. "Gorillaz breaking the mould 'cos the mould got old. World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we've gotta stay ready to drop. We don't even know who's stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell's coming, we're primed and ready to produce like there's no tomorrow. Y'know, just in case...."

Now on its sixth episode, the series just got announced as an album Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez. Which is a fitting title for the strange times the world has found itself in. What better way to beat the blues than with the eclectic set of tunes any Gorillaz album always is?

Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez arrives on the 23rd of October.
