Roaring Giant: Africa's Economic Ascent, Columbia's 8th African Economic Forum will take place on March 25-26, 2011. This year's theme, Roaring Giant, is a reference to economic growth on the Continent. "Africa is experiencing faster GDP growth rates than most other regions in the world right now," says Osahon Akpata, one of the conference organizers. The days' events will include keynote speeches by Danny Jordaan, CEO of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee, J. Kofi Bucknor, Managing Partner of Kingdom Zephyr Africa Management, Charles W. Brumskine, Senator and Liberian Opposition Leader, Dr. Shatayanan Devarajan, Chief Economist – Africa Region at the World Bank and Fola Adeola, co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank. There will also be several panel discussions on business, law, and government (one of which you'll find Okayafrica repping on), as well as a gala dinner with a concert and fashion show. Check out their website for more information.
