Tyla Cancels Coachella, North American & European Tour Dates Due to Injury

The cancellations also include her appearances at summer festivals like Gov Ball and Roots Picnic.

Tyla has announced that she is cancelling all of her upcoming North American, UK, European, and festival tour dates — including her sets at Coachella, Gov Ball and Roots Picnic — due to injury.

"For the past year I've been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened," the South African star who recently took home the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance writes.

"I've seen doctors and specialists with high hopes but the pain has only become more agonizing as has the severity of the situation. I am absolutely heartbroken but as of right now I won’t be able to proceed with the tour... continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardize my health and safety," she adds.

The show cancellations come at a highly-inopportune time for the artist. Tyla's star is quickly rising due to the massive and viral success of her single "Water" — which placed Tyla on a path to superstardom — and the forthcoming release of her debut album. Tyla also just won the inaugural Best African Music Performance award at this year's Grammys Awards.

"Words cannot describe my frustration at this pivotal point in my career," Tyla writes on her social media. "So please know that my team and I are working diligently on a spectacular show for you as soon as I am recovered and ready to return safely onstage this summer... It’s hard having to turn down opportunities you’ve been waiting your whole life for but God has his plan."

North American headline dates will be automatically refunded, while all other territories will be contacted by their respective ticket providers for options.
