Black Acre, the record label responsible for Romare's Meditations On Afrocentrism, have most recently introduced us to Clap! Clap! — the experimental afro-electro project from Italian jazz musician Cristiano Crisci. Back in February Clap! Clap! dropped his Tambacounda EP, a collage of African audio samples, cow bells and heart racing drum beats which made it to NPR's Best Dance Tracks of the Month list. The EP's standout track "Elon Mentana" is a dubbed-out masterpiece which playfully toys with tempo and pitch, produced with the help of DJ Khalab (also one half of dj Khalab & Baba Sissoko audio-visual collaboration with Malian master of the talking drum Baba Sissoko).
