OkayAfrica’s Culture Cafe opens with Ghanaian music icon, Stonebwoy.
by Kaushik Kalidindi for OkayAfrica
As our world becomes increasingly digital and ironically fragmented, OkayAfrica is invested in building community and interacting directly with our audience and the people who shape the culture on the continent. I’m thrilled to introduce OkayAfrica’s Culture Cafe, an interactive listening and discussion session with artists from around the continent.
Culture Cafe exists to foster strong connections among artists, industry experts, writers, cultural architects, and others for real-life conversations about music, culture, film, streetwear, and anything that shapes and commands culture in Africa.
In a first-of-its-kind event, OkayAfrica’s Culture Cafe will feature the iconic Ghanaian star Stonebwoy. This session, curated in partnership with Jambo Spaces, will be an interactive listening session moderated by pop culture commentator, Olele Salvador.
From his most recent Torcher album series to his Afro-dancehall offering with his 2018 album Epistles of Mama to his cross-continent collaborations, Stonebwoy has remained brilliant, relevant, and dedicated to creating and influencing authentic Ghanaian sounds.
The evening will close out with a performance by 99 PHACES, a music collective handpicked by Stonebwoy, whom we have covered extensively in the past.
We invite you to come sit with us, listen, talk, and have an unforgettable experience. Grab your tickets here, and see you in Accra on the 25th!
