Premiere: Shirazee Links Up with Eugy For His New and Smooth Single, 'Gari N Sugar'

Watch the London-shot music video here first on OkayAfrica.

Benin's own Shirazee kicks of 2019 with another single from his EP, Home and Away.

In "Gari N Sugar," featuring Eugy, we get a taste (pun intended) of what vibing with a significant other romantically is like to him. And in the music video, premiering here on OkayAfrica, we see Shirazee post up in the London neighborhood of Camden, walking through Ridley Road Market daydreaming of his snack.

"'Gari N Sugar' came to me when I was looking for the best way to sonically describe the greatest love chemistry possible, because nothing beats a good bowl of garri with sugar in ice water (throw in some peanuts and or nido milk if you poppin')," Shirazee shares with us.

"Initially I was alone on the song but when I met Eugy in person, we discussed doing a record. I thought as a fellow West African he would get it and he did—turning it around in 24 hours and bodied it. Good vibes all around. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did creating it."

Lock into "Gari N Sugar" below, and revisit our in-depth conversation with Shirazee here.

Cannabis is commonly used as incense to initiate religious practises by Rastafarians and is often followed by a series of praises and prayers.
