Busiswa and Kamo Mphela Summon The Summer in New Visuals for Their Single ‘SBWL’

Watch Busiswa and Kamo Mphela's music video for 'SBWL'.

The confines of genre don't limit Busiswa. A few years ago, she was one of the frontrunners of gqom. From kwaito to house, hip-hop and spoken word, Busiswa has done it all. And excelled.

Her latest forays into amapiano, the most popular subgenre of house music in South Africa, have led to a few hits.

With her new single "SBWL", the artist connects with internet dance sensation Kamo Mphela for a lively amapiano tune. "Sbwl", which is a stylised version of the Xhosa word/phrase "andisabaweli", is used by South Africans on the internet to express their desires. At the moment, everyone sbwls the end of the pandemic and the return of groove as the summer approaches.

Busiswa sings, "The yanos is upon us, big festivals and in small bars" in the song's hook.

In the song's video, the two artists and an army of dancers, throw a pool party and go out balling to summon the summer. From the dance moves to the bikinis, the song brings out the spirit of summer.

Kamo Mphela has made the transition from internet majaivana to a recording artist in a short period. The artist's debut EP titled 21 drops in November on her 21st birthday.

"I'm just honoured to have a song with Busiswa," Kamo told NCA a week ago. "At the beginning of last year we took a video together which went viral , I didn't think I'd have a song with her."
