For his latest music video, DJ Sliqe revisits the classic South African drama series Yizo Yizo, which aired in the early 2000s on SABC 1. The iconic series explored the life of high school kids from the hood.

Kwesta and Sliqe are dress sense in the video references the flamboyant style of Yizo Yizo characters such as Papa Action and Chester.

The music video is shot in a high school and repurposes some of the series' memorable scenes like the frantic ringing of the bell by Javas, the scene where a young man's head is forced into a toilet, among others.

The visual is fitting for the song. On "Spaan Sam," Kwesta raps in sparse lines over a street-centric instrumental with a synth than drones alongside an aggressive bassline to recreate the mood Yizo Yizo captured.

"Spaan Saam" is a single from Sliqe's latest album, the recently-released Injayam, Vol. 2. The project features a versatile lineup of artists such as The Big Hash, Naye Ayla, Champagne69, 25K and many others.

With Kwesta's latest single "Run It Up," which features Rich Homie Quan, unlikely to resonate with a non-hip-hop audience, "Spaan Saam" might serve the same purpose as previous singles of his like "Ngud'," "Spirit" and "Vur Vai."
