LOL Comedy Experience’s Alicia Houston gave us a little background on the event below.

“I wanted to create more than another comedy festival,” she shares. “I wanted to build an experience where people can disconnect from everyday stress, reconnect with each other, and celebrate Black comedy and culture in one of the most beautiful destinations in the Caribbean. Laughter has always been healing, and I wanted to create a space where that healing becomes a vacation."

Punta Cana was intentionally selected as the backdrop for this experience — not just for its beaches and luxury accommodations, but because it offers the perfect setting for guests to slow down, recharge, and connect.

"Choosing Punta Cana wasn't just about the beaches — although they're incredible,” Houston mentions. “It was about creating an atmosphere where every part of the weekend feels elevated. From the comedy shows to the excursions, the goal is for guests to leave with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and a renewed sense of joy."

The event also celebrates the comedians themselves by creating opportunities for fans to engage with them beyond the stage.

"Comedians spend most of the year traveling from city to city, often performing in clubs or theaters. I wanted to give them an opportunity to perform in a setting that feels like a celebration of their talent while also giving fans a chance to interact with them in a much more personal way than a traditional comedy show allows.

“As a Black woman entrepreneur producing an international destination event, creating spaces that authentically celebrate Black culture remains central to the vision ... It's important to me that we're creating spaces where our stories, our humor, and our creativity are centered. Black travelers are looking for experiences that feel intentional and authentic, and that's exactly what we're building."

The Laugh Out Loud Comedy Experience blends luxury travel, live entertainment, cultural connection, and community into one unforgettable weekend.

"This isn't just a weekend of stand-up. Guests can spend the day exploring Punta Cana, relaxing at an all-inclusive luxury resort, networking with other professionals and entrepreneurs, and then end the night laughing with some of today's funniest comedians.
