Listen to Runtown's Surprise Release of His New EP 'Tradition'

#SoundgodBack.

Nigerian star hitmaker Runtown is back with the surprise drop of his latest EP, Tradition. The highly-anticipated 6-song release was due next Friday, but the artist got it all live earlier today.

"My team is probably going to kill me. I honestly tried my best to stick to the plan but I couldn't wait," Runtown mentions. "I have broken the protocols because I want you guys to have the music as quickly as possible. Do me a favor stream the EP until you can sing every song word for word."

Tradition features five new song alongside the previously released "Unleash," a collaboration with UK grime act Fekky.

The EP features production from Del B ("Redemption," "Unleash"), Spellz ("Emotions," "International Badman Killa"), Elputo ("Tradition") and Ransom Beatz ("Goose Bumps"). Overall, Tradition looks to bring the hazy & downtempo sonic world of Runtown's addictive hits like "Mad Over You" and "For Life" to higher levels.

Runtown spoke to OkayAfrica about the background of "Emotions" and revealed that the EP is influenced by all types of love.

"So I was in the studio with the producer Spellz making magic and 'Emotions' just happened," the Nigerian act mentions. "The song actually just came to me. 'Emotions' is all about vulnerability, it's just like confessing your truest feelings to a girl without any sort of ego. I think that love is a very powerful theme and it influences the bulk of my music. Whether it is love for humanity, a woman or life, the EP is influenced heavily by love."

Listen to Swae Lee & Drake's New Single 'Won't Be Late,' Produced by Tekno

As well as production, Tekno also gets a writing credit on the new song.

Rae Sremmurd's Swae Lee drops two new singles today, "Won't Be Late" featuring Drake and "Sextasy."

"Won't Be Late" is notably produced by Nigeria's own Tekno. The new single is built on a mid tempo, afro-fusion-inspired beat, filled with claps, and light keyboard chords.

As well as production, Tekno also gets a writing credit on the new song. You can hear his input when Drake sings lines like, 'Ikebe, pressing on me heavy' and 'Bakasi, moving on me wassy.'

If you remember, Drake shouted out Tekno last year as one of his many inspirations behind Scorpion and posted a picture of them working on something together.

"Won't Be Late" is paired with Swae Lee's "Sextasy" which was produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and Chopsquad DJ.

Tekno's had a lively past few months. He was recently featured in Beyoncé's The Lion King: The Gift album and dropped his "Agege" collaboration with Zlatan. He was also accused of being a "threat to security" by Nigeria's Council for Arts & Culture for that single's pole dancing video.
