As always, we bring all of that brand new heat right to your doorstep. Check out our picks of the best Ghana music you can lay your hands (and ears) on below.
King Promise "Terminator"
Ghanaian singer King Promise came through this month with his first single of the year titled “Terminator," produced by the usual suspect Killbeatz. “Terminator” is an infectious amapiano-infused afrobeats tune, and from the looks of things this joint right here is poised to become one of the biggest Ghanaian songs of 2023.
Amaarae "Co-Star"
Ghanaian-American singer, songwriter and performer Amaarae is set to release her sophomore album Fountain Baby on June 9th, and off the project is this new single called “Co-Star.” The song celebrates star signs and their romantic compatibility, resulting in an anthem for the astrology girlies. The music video is the icing on the cake, with Amaarae playing the role of a judge at an exotic car meet on a set straight out of a PS2-era video game.
Kwesi Arthur "Penny"
In a welcome return to action after a brief hiatus, Kwesi Arthur drops his first solo single of the year. “Penny” is a laid-back, introspective song that sees Kwesi Arthur reflecting on his journey so far and the challenges he’s faced, delivering authenticity and vulnerability in his signature rap delivery.
Efya "Super Super"
Ghanaian soul icon Efya is back with a bang, following a lengthy hiatus from the music scene. The multiple award-winning singer has returned with a brand new single titled “Super Super,” a combination of bouncy pop song with a colorful video, produced by MOG Beatz.
Mr Drew "Tomorrow"
Singer Mr Drew came through with a new single as well, and he calls this one “Tomorrow.” It’s an inspirational tune, where he addresses life’s ups and downs and issues motivation over an upbeat afrobeats instrumental.
SDK Dele "Camera Man"
SDK Dele is the name behind one of Ghana’s trending social media moments of the past month. He’s a content creator who has been making waves on social media with his comedy skits, and one skit that featured a catchy amapiano tune caught social media’s attention, with many requesting for the full song. In response to the public’s demand, SDK Dele released the full-length version of the amapiano tune, titled “Camera Man.”
BRYAN THE MENSAH - Gree (Feat. Gidochi) (Lyric Video)
BRYAN THE MENSAH released his third single of the year by the name of “Gree,” featuring Ghanaian singer Gidochi. “Gree” is a defiant anthem for anyone that’s hyper-focused on their path and oblivious to stereotypes and naysayers. Together, the duo give off a melodic performance over the Okaiwav production.
Adina Thembi "Baby"
Adina Thembi begins her 2023 run with a beautiful solo single, simply titled “Baby.” Co-produced by 2 Kings and Richie Mensah, the acoustic-style tune places a spotlight on her melodic vocal performance, backed by minimalist guitar chords.
