The 2-day Africa Nouveau Festival taking place this weekend in Kenya will showcase the most innovative, trendsetting artists on the continent


This weekend, Nairobi will host the Africa Nouveau Festival, a 2-day event "designed to showcase the most innovative, trend-setting artists on the continent." Presented by Blankets & Wine, the festival will bring together some of our favorite names in music, fashion and "culi'n'art" (art & food) on September 5 & 6 at the Ngong Racecourse.

Featured in the dazzling lineup are the Kenyan electronic pop outfit Just A BandSouth Africa's Fantasma (of which both Spoek Mathambo & DJ Spoko are members), 'Ancestral Soul' maestro Boddhi Satva, Nairobi powerhouse Muthoni The Drummer Queen,  Ghanaian 'afro-hypno-sonic' singer Jojo Abot, Angola's DJ Satelite, Electrafrique's own DJ Cortega, Kenyan street style duo 2manysiblings, and many more.

Here are the African Women on the 2020 BBC '100 Women' List

Grammy award-winning singer, Angélique Kidjo, humanitarian and activist, Ilwad Elman, and Booker Prize shortlisted author, Tsitsi Dangarembga, made the list along with many other phenomenal women.

The BBC has released its annual 100 Women list. The list is a global compilation of formidable and driven women who are change leaders in their respective fields. These prolific women have been actively working unceasingly despite a turbulent year following the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. Grammy award-winning Beninese singer, Angélique Kidjo, Somalian activist, Ilwad Elman and Zimbabwean author and activist, Tsitsi Dangarembga, made the list alongside with many others.
