Here are the African Artists Performing At Coachella This Year

DJ Black Coffee, Princess Nokia, Seun Kuti, Sampa the Great, and more will be hitting the stage at the 2020 edition of the music festival.

The line-up for this year's Coachella was recently announced and tickets for the first weekend in April have (unsurprisingly) sold out with pre-sale registration for the second weekend already under way.

The music festival will be headlined by American rock band Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean. African artists and those from the diaspora will be included in the plethora of international artists performing at arguably the biggest musical festival of the year.

African artists continue to take up space at Coachella and we're certainly here for it. Mr Eazi and Burna Boy carried the torch for Afrobeats artists with their performances last year after fans were disappointed by Wizkid's no-show at the 2018 edition of the music festival.

This year, DJ Black Coffee, Princess Nokia, Koffee, Sampa the Great, Seun Kuti, Aya Nakamura, Masego and Koffee are all set to hit the massive stage.

DJ Black Coffee has become a staple at major music events. Not only was the house/dance maverick a part of last year's Coachella, he's also set to headline ULTRA South Africa 2020 for the first time ever this year.

Afro-Nuyorican MC Princess Nokiareturns to Coachella again this year alongside French-Malian pop singer Aya Nakamura, Australian-Zambian singer-songwriter and rapper, Sampa the Greatas well as British-Nigerian rapper Dave.

Nearly a decade later, Afrobeats prodigy Seun Kuti will return to Coachella accompanied by his band, Egypt 80. Masego, who recently headlined Afropunk Johannesburg alongside Miguel and Solange, will also perform at Coachella with fellow Jamaican artist Koffee.

While set details and times are still to be released, you can view the complete line-up and purchase tickets here.
